Nurses On A Misson

To Change The World

Welcome to Cup of Nurses, your source for current health news and hot nursing topics. This is the place where the rubber hits the road and things get real. We don’t sugarcoat information or gloss over tough issues. We face topics head on, debate the subjects at hand and let you, our listeners, make your own decisions.

We are Matt and Peter, two Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurses who have an appetite for all things related to nursing, science, health, nutrition and consciousness. Through podcasts, blogs and vlogs, we highlight what we have learned about health and wellness during our lives and nursing careers through the Cup of Nurses media outlet.

Whether you’re interested in nursing as a career, are currently serving as a nurse, enrolled in nursing school or just interested in healthful living, we offer the news you need to stay informed about healthcare. We invite you to explore our website and see why Cup of Nurses is more than just another pair of talking heads – it’s an experience that will open your eyes and help you view the medical field with a fresh perspective.

WHO WE ARE

Like most nurses, we started our careers rooted in the noble idea that we would be helping people. However, as nursing students, we were native and had absolutely no idea what the day-to-day life of a nurse would be like. We also didn’t have the proper tools to know how to cope with the constant stress and challenges we would face.

Instead of becoming another statistic and leaving the healthcare field, we decided to pool our knowledge and take it to the Internet. This is our story:

Meet Peter

A registered nurse with more than six years of ICU experience. I see value in every human being and help people understand that they can achieve their full potential. I took my nursing knowledge of focusing on disease treatment and co-founded Cup of Nurses. My goal through education is preventing illness and helping people grow mentally, physically, and spiritually. What I bring to the table is optimism and clarity, prompting conversations on how good health can help you overcome any challenge and be successful in life. It is never too late to make a healthy change. Life is what you make of it.

Meet Matt

A Registered Nurse of 6 years, podcast host, and Embodiment coach. Like many, I was excited to finish my BSN and start my career. However, after more than four years as a nurse I was starting to feel restless, like there was a greater purpose in store for me. Seeking to make a greater impact, I researched ways I could reach more people while staying true to my medical training. It all clicked when I discovered how impactful writing could be. As I wrote about mindfulness, wellness and personal development topics I was encouraged to start a blog, take on travel nursing and  co-found Cup of Nurses with my friend and colleague, Peter.

HOW WE

STARTED

At Cup of Nurses, we don’t try to be everything to everyone. In 2017, seeking to better the lives of individuals by relying on our comprehensive nursing skills and backgrounds, we decided to venture into mindfulness and wellness.

In 2018, we decided our message could reach more people if we took it to the next level. So, we launched our first official blogging website, Mindful Mindset. Our followers were people who desired to lead a more conscious life, confident in their health and wellness decisions.

Eventually, writing didn’t seem like it was enough. About the time we both started travel nursing in August 2020, we kicked off our vlog. It was an opportunity to share our love for the outdoors and create meaningful content, so we couldn’t pass it up. The vlog highlights our travel nursing experience as we care for patients in different hospitals across the country. Not only does travel nursing make us better healthcare workers, it enriches our souls by providing time to explore different areas, taste regional foods and try new activities. It’s professionally challenging and personally satisfying – the best of both worlds.

WHERE WE ARE TODAY

While COVID-19 impacted everyone’s lives in one way or another, the effect it had on nurses was palatable. From watching patients die alone and scared on ventilators to living in campers in their back yard unable to interact with their own families and de-stress, never before was nursing filled with so much sadness and isolation.

Our podcast is a safe space for nurses and their families. It’s a place where they can voice their concerns, air their frustrations and share their joyful experiences. In this way, our podcast is also an educational tool for the community, allowing friends, neighbors and the general public to hear real conversations and no-holds-barred perspectives that has the power to transform all their lives.

Our podcast is firmly and unapologetically niched in the nursing field. We are passionate about what we do because we know our followers count on us to help them sort through the noise and misinformation that has so firmly gripped today’s news cycles. Instead of sensationalizing health topics or hyping outrageous claims, we promise to:

  • Bring you accurate information and fabulous, fun and practical tidbits of news you won’t find anywhere else
  • Help you renew your mind and spirit as you face the harsh realities that a career in nursing often brings
  • Keep things raw and unfiltered as we stay true to ourselves, sharing what our lives are like both on and off the clock

Nursing is hard, but it is also very rewarding. Still, it’s important to remember to protect your sanity on a daily basis. If you’re a nursing student, nurse or someone interested in greater quality of life, you’re in the right place. We are here to create more purpose in your career, health and leisure time. Arm yourself with the latest knowledge and keep your heart full with the most up-to-date news from Cup of Nurses.
