EP. 80: Biomechanics with Dr. Matt

Biomechanics with Dr. Matt

Today we would like to welcome Dr. Matt. He attended the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, graduating with a molecular and cellular biology degree. His time there helped him develop a great respect for research, which inevitably led him to evidence-based practice. After completing his Doctorate from the National University of Health Sciences, Dr. Matt attended post-graduate seminars on nutrition, biomechanics, rehabilitation, and manual therapy.

He specializes in treating musculoskeletal conditions and has developed a methodology stemming from various scopes of medicine to provide efficient care for his patients. He believes that the best results come from a joint venture where doctors and patients work together with a transparent flow of information. His goals are simple; provide excellent care for his patients and impact their lives to achieve optimal health.

Questions for Our Guest

Questions below are some we’d like to tackle. We always go off-topic, so we don’t expect to hit them all. If you have any ideas, please let us know. Looking forward to our conversation!

  • What are the most significant risk factors for people not achieving optimal well-being?
  • What evidenced-based research have you found compelling recently regarding clinical technique?
  • What is the most common pain your patients complain about? Where does the main problem stem from, or what is the cause?
  • Technology is moving quickly; inventions estimated to take 20 years are now completed within 5. The easier and quicker life gets less physically healthy we become. Do you think we have a posture epidemic due to how we absorb technology?

Biomechanics studies the structure, function, and motion of the mechanical aspects of biological systems, at any level, from whole organisms to organs and cells.

  • Why is posture a vital part of biomechanics?
  • What percentage of your patients are between the age of 20 and 30? What do they suffer from the most?
  • Do you see any nurses or other medical professionals? Other chiropractors, physicians, techs, etc.…) What do you find their biggest issues to be?
  • What made you decide to be a chiropractor? And how many years of schooling does it take?
  • Do you need an MD referral? Should children go to the chiropractor?
